Why I don’t believe in luck (and what Nigel reminded me of this week)

It’s been a full-on week!

Tuesday morning was my Group Coaching session, and straight after, I was off to Birmingham for the Entrepreneur’s Circle Coaching Development Day.

What a brilliant day it was. Nigel Botterill shared some fantastic insights, and it’s always amazing being in a room full of coaches who are so passionate about what they do and about helping small business owners succeed.

So many of them are doing incredible things — it’s inspiring and energising to surround myself with such positive, motivated people.

On the way home, I decided to split the journey and stay overnight at our holiday home.

It was the first time I’d been there without our youngest, and it was so lovely to get a bit of quiet time to unwind.

As I sat on the beach, I found myself thinking how lucky I am to be able to do this — to have the freedom to stop, breathe, and take time when I need it.

But then I reminded myself — it’s not luck.

(After all, I’ve never even won a raffle prize, so I’m definitely not lucky! 😅)

It’s hard work, and more importantly, it’s having the clarity and systems in place in my business that allow me to dictate my own schedule and create the lifestyle I want.

Funnily enough, Nigel’s talk the day before was all about abundance — and how we need to reframe how we think about money and opportunity.

He said something that really stuck with me:

Because every decision in business — and in life — should start with where you want to be.

When you get clear on that, you start making different choices.
