The £30 million lesson every business owner should know

With a bit of down time over the October week, I finally caught up on the third instalment of the Victoria Beckham Netflix documentary — and it was by far my favourite.

This episode focused on the business behind the brand, and it was fascinating.

You might remember the headlines a few years ago — how her brand was in the red, how David Beckham had to bail her out, and how the business had hit a breaking point.

By 2017, even brand Beckham couldn’t sustain the losses. In a final attempt to save it, they went searching for investors — and that’s when David Belhassen stepped in, investing £30 million for a minority stake.

Now, for many of us who have built businesses from scratch, the idea of giving up control or bringing in outside investors can feel uncomfortable.
But for Victoria Beckham, it was a make-or-break moment.

What I loved most about this part of her story is that Belhassen didn’t just hand over the money — he rolled up his sleeves.

He looked at the numbers.
He spotted the inefficiencies.
He saw that the business was being run like an expensive hobby — and he put in systems and structure to turn it around.

The result? The brand that once faced collapse was valued at £375 million last year.

Now, while I can’t exactly stump up £30 million for all my one-to-one clients 😅, looking at the numbers, helping to install systems, and bringing structure is exactly what I do for them.

More often than not, within a single session, I can see where the cash is leaking — the unnecessary costs quietly draining profits.

Victoria Beckham, for example, was reportedly spending £70,000 a year on fresh flowers. Lovely? Yes.
Necessary for a struggling business? Absolutely not.

And the truth is, she just didn’t know — she’d never run a business or managed finances before.

That’s why sometimes, an outside perspective is exactly what you need.

And because it’s my birthday 🎉 — and we’re in the final quarter of the year — I want to give something back.

I’m offering 5 free Power Hours (there may be a number 5 in my birthday year 😉). I usually charge £199 for these.

Here’s how it works:
🕒 You book a one-hour Zoom slot.
💬 You bring one issue you’re facing in your business right now.
💡 And together, we’ll find a solution within that hour.

I love a challenge — and this is my gift exclusively for my email list to help you finish 2025 strong.

There are only 5 spaces available, so if you’d like one, just reply to this email with the number 5 and I’ll be in touch. (offer ends Sunday 6pm)

Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the rest of the October week!
