Mindset is powerful. But it won’t build your business.
If you’ve been around me for more than five minutes, you’ll know I’m a huge advocate for mindset work.
Reframing. Reprogramming. Resilience. All of it.
And a few years ago, I took it up a notch and trained in something pretty special:
I became a Jose Silva Method graduate.
(If that name’s not ringing a bell—he’s the one who inspired some of the biggest names in personal development: Bob Proctor, Vishen Lakhiani, Tony Robinson, Wayne Dyer… I could go on.)
And let me tell you—I had the best time on that course.
I met people from every walk of life—lawyers, CEOs, creatives, surgeons, property investors, people in crisis, people reinventing themselves. But despite all the different professions, there was one thing they all had in common:
Burnout.
And I’ll be honest—I was one of them.
At the time, I was in the thick of something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
My eldest son became critically ill following what started as a cold.
He was paralysed from the waist down, and we were in hospital for six long months.
There were no answers. No guarantees. Just day after day of fear, uncertainty, and showing up.
And while I was managing that, I was also trying to keep everything else going—
➡️ Four other sons
➡️ Multiple businesses
➡️ Clients relying on me
➡️ Staff needing direction
➡️ A household to run
I was completely and utterly burnt out.
We all needed a different approach.
A better mindset.
Now, full disclosure:
When I came home and told my sons that I learned plants can communicate, they were convinced I’d finally lost the plot. 🤣
Great course. Life-changing stuff. Highly recommend.
But here’s where this newsletter takes a turn…
Because while I believe in mindset work deeply—and I practice it daily—mindset alone will not build you a profitable, sustainable business.
It won’t chase up invoices.
It won’t follow up with leads.
It won’t fix your pricing model or tidy up your onboarding process.
You need structure.
You need systems, follow-up processes, automation, pricing strategy and (let’s say this bit louder)...
You need to know your numbers.
Are you actually making money from that offer you’re spending so much time on?
Do you know what it costs to get a new customer?
Are your customers getting the experience they deserve—or just whatever you’ve got left to give?
And when was the last time you properly followed up with a prospect or re-engaged a past customer?
These are not mindset problems.
These are business problems.
And they need business solutions.
So yes—do the mindset work. Train your brain like your business depends on it.
Because it does.
But pair it with process.
Pair it with systems.
And pair it with structure that supports your success.
That’s when the magic really happens.
You don’t need to choose between good vibes and good margins.
You can—and should—have both.
