- If you’ve ever wanted to give up, this is for you.
If you’ve ever wanted to give up, this is for you.
Let’s talk about motivation.
Over the summer, I’ve had so many conversations with female business owners who’ve told me they’re struggling to stay motivated in their business.
And honestly? I get it.
We, as women in business, carry a lot. We’re not just entrepreneurs. We’re mums, wives, partners, daughters, sisters, friends… And despite what we all thought when our kids were little (sorry spoiler alert to those still in the early years!) — it actually gets harder as they get older.
Aging parents start needing more support. Relationships shift or break down. Our kids begin living their own lives — which sounds freeing until something goes wrong and we’re right back there, emotionally present, trying to fix things we no longer have control over.
Add to that the pressure of running a business — keeping clients happy, managing finances, spinning all the plates — and it’s no wonder that so many women quietly walk away from their businesses.
They don’t talk about it. They just shut down the website. Take the job. Settle for something “safe.” Even when they know it won’t light them up the same way.
Because they’re just tired.
Not lazy. Not incapable. Just tired. Burned out. Mentally and emotionally drained.
If that’s you — or you’ve felt like that recently — please know you’re not alone. But also know: there are ways to protect your energy and stay in the game.
Here’s what helps:
🕒 Map out your time — fiercely. Prioritise it like your business depends on it (because it does).
💆♀️ Carve out time for you — every day. Not when you crash. Not once a month. Daily. Recharge as prevention, not recovery.
📝 Make a list the night before of what you want to work on — don’t let the world decide for you when the day begins.
📱 Turn off your notifications. Seriously. That one group message can eat 20 minutes of your brain.
⏰ Set aside one hour a day (or every other day) to work on forward-focused tasks only — the ones that grow your business, not just maintain it.
📤 Start outsourcing — even if it’s just a few hours of admin a week. Free up your brain. Your time. Your energy.
The reality is, there will always be seasons where you feel stretched thin. But there’s a difference between feeling tired… and feeling powerless.
Small changes can bring momentum back. Structure creates space. And space brings back the energy and clarity you’ve been missing.
You can do this. Just not by doing it all.
